The city of Marseille has always worked to preserve biodiversity and its inhabitants are increasingly following the movement. So we can see, hanging on the balcony of the BelleVue hotel, adorable little nest boxes to shelter wild birds.
What is their use?
These wooden nesting boxes , attached to the hotel balcony, provide a safe and suitable habitat for many wild birds that want to nest and raise their young. This is therefore essential for the reproduction of birds along the Mediterranean coast . They offer secure shelter from terrestrial predators and inclement weather.
They make it possible, while urban growth develops, to compensate for the loss of their natural habitat.

It is obvious that we must use untreated materials!… wood or coconut fiber, straws, wood shavings for good insulation. Coat them with linseed oil and place them at least 2 meters high.
Birds have different requirements in terms of size, location and type of habitat, so research on local species is necessary before installing nest boxes.
